We regret to inform you that starting on June 1, 2018, the app will no longer be available to use. Despite the app helping people get through difficult times, we've had a difficult time figuring out a sustainable way to keep the app running that goes beyond taking outside donations. Over the years, we've tried several different models (donations, subscriptions, referral) but unfortunately without success.
It has been an exciting journey these past seven years. We started this idea with little capital and only helping a few dozen people. During these seven years, we've touched the lives of over 100,000 people, with over 1,000 Support Groups being created on the platform.
We've had some amazing people working behind the scenes to better the lives of others from various parts of the world without ever taking any recognition. Some of these individuals offered their skills to build great code, while others invested their own capital to help grow the idea. Some individuals became Ambassadors on the app to further help, while others promoted the app offline to increase awareness in their own community. Each individual brought their own unique skills during this journey while all having the same intent - helping others in the best way that they could.
We know this may be difficult for some, however we do have a few alternatives for you guys once we are no longer available:
Additionally, we've decided that we want to make our code available to the public should anyone request it for their own personal use. We strongly believe that someone, someday, will figure out the best way to evolve this idea that's far beyond our own aptitude or abilities. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org before June 1 so that we have your information for when the code will become public.
And finally, we want to thank you all for working towards improving your own mental health. The fact that you're reading this implies that you've taken action in some way on improving your own well-being, even if it's only a small step.
If there's one wish that we could have going forward, it would be that all of you continue to try new ideas when it comes to improving your own mental health, and to never give up. Project Toe's mission has always been to create tools that allow you to help people in your community. The beauty of this idea is that you don't need Project Toe to do that. All you need is a big idea, a small team, and the desire to try.
As a wise person once said, "Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all." We may not have changed the world with Project Toe, but if we have helped at least one of you, it was well worth it!
We really appreciate you sending us a message. Your message will be viewed by one of our staff members. Due to the high volume of emails, please allow up to 48 hours to hear back from one of us. Thank you!
